Frost Chill Cooling

HP/LP sensor
×
The HP/LP sensor will need to operate correctly in order to ensure the efficient operation of the refrigeration unit.
A faulty HP/LP sensor will result in either the compressor not functioning at all or in other cases, will result in the compressor running continuously which can damage the compressor.
Is the HP/LP sensor constantly starting and stopping the compressor after a few minutes?
- There could be low refrigerant. If the refrigerant level is too low, this can cause the compressor to run and stop frequently, or not turn on at all.
- There is high pressure. Check the high side of the compressor during run operation. Check that it does not exceed the High-Pressure setting on the HP/LP switch.
- The unit could be faulty. This could indicate that the bellows may be damaged due to wear and tear, or the contacts on the pressure switch have burnt out. This can be tested by bypassing the switch, provided that the refrigerant levels are correct.
